Marie C. Schur, Ph.D. - Licensed Clinical & Forensic Psychologist

Schur Forensic & Clinical Services

Psychotherapy for people dealing with, or recovering from, partners and family members with psychopathic or narcissistic traits.

ABOUT MARIE C. SCHUR, PH.D.

I am a licensed clinical and forensic psychologist with nearly two decades of experience at the intersection of psychology and the law. I trained at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County and at the Department of State Hospitals - Atascadero, one of California's maximum-security forensic facilities, where I co-designed and led the Enhanced Treatment Unit, a statewide pilot program for the state's most violent forensic patients, later featured on NPR. I spent six years conducting violence risk evaluations for the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, completed hundreds of PCL-R psychopathy evaluations, and hold formal certification from Dr. Adelle Forth, co-developer of the instrument. My clinical and forensic work has also included domestic violence, addiction, personality disorders, and sexual violence.

My experience has given me a close, sustained view of how psychopathic and severely narcissistic individuals operate. I have evaluated people who were charming and credible one minute, only to switch to cruel and callous in the next. I have reviewed thousands of pages of documented evidence of psychopathic behavior that described the typical interpersonal patterns: idealization followed by devaluation, escalating control, the rewriting of events, and the reversal of victim and perpetrator.

My clinical work is focused on helping you think clearly about your circumstances, understand what is actually happening, and decide what path is best for you.

Evening hours and telehealth available. Private pay, with superbills provided for PPO out-of-network reimbursement.
